Strategically located in the heart of Australia’s premier agricultural region, our group was founded to ensure backpackers visiting Bundaberg could reside somewhere clean, safe, and comfortable with a mission to raise to reputation of the region!

By backpackers, for backpackers!
Twenty years ago, our journey began in the tomato fields of Bundaberg. The founder arrived as a backpacker, working long days on local farms and living the full regional experience — the good and the not-so-good. Things began to shift as the Australian Government opened up 2nd year working holiday visas, allowing a generation of backpackers to experience the wonders of Australia for longer than ever. Over time, he came to understand both what makes regional work rewarding and where the traditional backpacker-farm model was falling short.
After eventually opening a working hostel of his own, and running it successfully for over 10 years, he saw a clear shift in the next generation of travellers. Expectations had changed. Young backpackers wanted clean facilities, respectful management, transparent job placements, and a positive environment — not the negativity and outdated practices sometimes associated with working hostels in the past.
Rather than accept the status quo, he chose to improve it.
Teaming up with a younger backpacker who understood the mindset of today’s travellers, they set out to build something different: modern, well-run hostels designed around three core principles — quality jobs, clean and comfortable accommodation, and genuine local experiences.
Our focus has always been practical and straightforward:
• Provide reliable, properly paid farm and regional work.
• Maintain clean, well-managed accommodation.
• Create a friendly, supportive environment where people feel welcome.
• Connect guests with the best of the region — from beaches and reef trips to local attractions and community events.
We are not just a place to stay. We are a stepping stone — whether you’re extending your visa, saving money, or simply wanting to experience regional Australia the right way.
What started in the paddocks 20 years ago has grown into a commitment: to raise the standard of working hostels in Bundaberg and remove the stigma by doing things properly.

We are the laughter in the communal kitchen after a long day in the fields, the shared tips on the best local harvests, and the lifelong friendships formed over a Saturday morning coffee.
